On His Own Two Feet

By ginny - Posted on 04 December 2009

I've been meaning to get on here and give a Kyle update. The day before Thanksgiving I saw him take his first step. However, it was just one, and no one else saw it, so I wasn't sure it counted. The Sunday following Thanksgiving my family saw him take 1-3 steps several times. But still, these are very small, very unstable distances he is crossing. So, like any good parent I started trying to make him walk more. I started by arranging the furniture so that he couldn't quite just reach between things, he'd have to take a step or two. We would also just try to encourage walking between us, or to us from other things.

Tonight we finally had a breakthrough. Kyle took 25 steps and walked several times between Kristian and I. He's not running, unless he gets really excited. He slowly goes and stops to rebalance himself occasionally. It's fun to see him walk. It's really funny to see Jo get so excited every time he stands alone or walks. She is more excited then we are.

In the mean time, don't look for too many pictures of him. He banged his head this morning on the table and I can't look at him without hurting on his behalf, so I probably won't document the damage unless I have to. He has also gained a 6th tooth, left top, making him more lopsided then ever.

Won't have much time to do updates the next few weeks. This is going to be one of the busiest Christmas seasons ever for us, but I hope it will be fun. I'll try to have the Christmas card photos up soon.
